Sarajevska Hagada / The Sarajevo Haggadah

The Sarajevo Haggadah is a Jewish manuscript illuminated codex, originating from medieval Spain. The book, created somewhere near Barcelona around 1350, arrived in BiH in the sixteenth century, together with Sephardic Jews, exiled from Spain.

After being used for hundreds of years in Sarajevo for holidays, the Haggadah was sold to the National Museum in Sarajevo in 1894.

The cultural and historical value of the original Haggadah is priceless. The last time, in 1992, during the great exhibition of Sephardic Jews in Madrid, the material value was estimated at seven million dollars.

The copy that is being sold is the first complete edition and consists of two books: the study by Eugen Verber - paperback, and a phototype of the manuscript in leather binding, printed on luxurious paper, with beautiful color illustrations.

A very nice bibliophile edition with a commentary by Eugen Werber in English. The book is in excellent antique condition.
