Oko cucka pa na mala vrata

Oko cucka pa na mala vrata

Hrvoje Šalković

The novel "Oko cucka pa na mala vrata" by Hrvoj Šalković takes place in Zagreb. A group of friends are planning a bank robbery.

We are talking about smart young losers, whose fate is well conditioned by the way they grew up. In an ideological sense, the backbone of the novel is the problem of abuse and neglect of children in the family, and in a fictional sense, the story is driven by a bank robbery and a long-distance love affair.

Hrvoje Šalković graduated in Journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences, after which he went to London for a few weeks, with the intention of improving his knowledge of the English language, but he stayed for three years. He enrolled in post-graduate studies at the University of Westminster and published several scientific papers there, and then obtained his master's degree in 2000. After that, he returned to Zagreb and devoted himself intensively to writing and traveling.

The novel is written in breath, in Šalković's well-known tone and expression, with a mixture of very witty and extremely emotional parts. And while Šalković's previous novels are very reminiscent of the English New Wave, with Hornby at the helm, the novel "Oko cucka pa na mala vrata" is in some parts more difficult, more melancholic and emotional, but in some parts it is also more humorous. It brings everything that Šalković has accustomed us to: lots of humor, action, colorful characters and that dose of heart that makes all of the above taste so good. In any case, Šalković changed course a little.
