The Three Musketeers is a classic historical adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas that follows the young Gascon nobleman d’Artagnan on his journey to Paris, where he seeks to join the royal guard – the Musketeers. There he befriends Athos, Porthos and Aramis, with whom he shares the motto all for one, one for all.
The plot takes place in the context of political and court intrigues of the 17th century, in which Cardinal Richelieu and his allies, as well as the English and French crowns, play a key role. D’Artagnan and the Musketeers are embroiled in complex conspiracies that include an attempt to compromise Queen Anne of Austria for her secret affair with the Duke of Buckingham, and a mission to recover stolen diamonds in order to preserve her honor.
A special place in the novel is occupied by the character Milady de Winter, whose manipulativeness and dual roles are the source of numerous conflicts and tragedies. The work combines historical events, fiction and adventure, creating a dynamic story of friendship, honor, betrayal and loyalty.
