Zagor LU #253: Armija luđaka
A slave uprising erupts in Bahia. Zagor and Rodrigues Lobo seek to rescue Kismeth and Magdalena, while betrayal within the rebellion turns the struggle for freedom into a deadly trap.
Armija luđaka concludes the Brazilian adventure begun in Bahia u krvi and continued in Vjetar pobune. A long-planned uprising breaks out at dawn, drawing Zagor and Rodrigues Lobo into a conflict that connects their personal mission with enslaved people’s struggle for freedom.
As they try to rescue Kismeth and Magdalena, the heroes discover that military force is not the rebels’ only threat. Betrayal from within further undermines their chances, making swift action and independent judgement essential.
Mignacco constructs a historical adventure driven by social conflict. Slavery is more than background: it shapes power, motivation and the scale of violence. Zagor’s priority remains the protection of human life as hopes of liberation collide with organised repression and private interests.
Raffaele Della Monica’s artwork brings together city streets, crowds and combat. The movement between intimate drama and a wider confrontation sustains the tension, while the search for endangered loved ones preserves the story’s emotional focus.
This issue provides the conclusion to the three-part storyline spanning Ludens #251–253, an important stage of Zagor’s South American journey.
