Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Gabrijel Hose Garsija Markes ( Arakataka , Kolumbija , 6. mart 1927 — Sijudad de Meksiko , Meksiko , 17. april 2014 ) je kolumbijski pisac, novinar, izdavač i politički aktivista. Dobio je Nobelovu nagradu za književnost 1982. godine. Njegova prva uspešna knjiga bila je „Pukovnik nema ko pisati“, objavljena 1961. godine, a godinu dana kasnije „Mamina sahrana“.
Za svoju najpoznatiju knjigu „Sto godina samoće” ispričao je kako mu se dogodilo svojevrsno otkrovenje dok se približavao Akapulku, a nije znao zašto, ali je znao da tu knjigu mora da napiše. Iskustvo je bilo toliko potpuno da je mogao od reči do reči da diktira prvo poglavlje. Romantičnim temama vratio se 1986. knjigom „Ljubav u vreme kolere”, snažnom, poetskom i komičnom pričom o dugogodišnjoj ljubavi, koja opisuje i priču o ljubavi njegovih roditelja.
