Ove tihe šume
Vivid, tense, masterfully written novel Ove tihe šume is a poignant story of survival, sacrifice and how far a father is willing to go when faced with the loss of everything.
Cooper and his young daughter Finch have been living in isolation for eight years, in a secluded cabin in the woods in the northern Appalachian Mountains. Cooper wants just that because he is forced to hide a lot. Finch spends his days reading books and learning about the cruel laws of nature. But she begins to resist the sheltered life Cooper has created for her - and he is still haunted by the painful truth about what he had to do to get there.
The only people who know about them are the mysterious local recluse Scotland and Cooper's old friend Jake, who visits them every winter to bring them food and supplies. When Jake doesn't show up one year, an unstoppable avalanche of events is set in motion that reveals just how precarious their situation really is. The boundaries of their safe haven suddenly disappear - and when a stranger wanders into their forest, Finch's growing obsession with her could threaten them. After a shocking disappearance threatens to destroy the only life Finch has ever known, Cooper is forced to decide whether to stay in hiding—or finally face the sins of his past.
