Zagor LU #72: Istrebljivači
Called south by his friend Bob, Zagor investigates murders blamed on the Creek. Someone is deliberately stirring hatred, and finding the killers becomes a race to prevent war.
Istrebljivači takes Zagor to the American South, where his old friend Bob warns him of crimes threatening conflict with the Creek. A peaceful tribe is blamed for violence committed by a gang led by Kelso. Zagor must expose the deception before the accusations lead to war.
Maurizio Colombo constructs a crime Western in which murder serves a purpose beyond eliminating individual victims. The attacks spread fear, encourage prejudice and create a pretext for collective retaliation. Tracking the perpetrators therefore becomes a struggle against deliberately manufactured hatred.
Crime used as an instrument of war gives the adventure its dark tone. Zagor must do more than defeat an enemy: he must prevent innocent people from answering for another’s actions. Bob’s appeal establishes a personal connection with the threatened region, while the investigation gradually reveals the scale of the danger.
Maurizio Dotti illustrates the encounters, pursuit and confrontations, combining action with investigative suspense. The story begins here and concludes in Metak za Kelsa, making regular Ludens issues 72 and 73 a complete adventure. This issue also marks Ludens’s takeover of the regular series, continuing the numbering previously used by Slobodna Dalmacija.
