Stihom od Berave do Orljave

Stihom od Berave do Orljave

Zvonimir Toldi

The book is a collection of poems inspired by the Posavina region – the region between the Berava and Orljava rivers in Brod-Posavina County – where Toldi, through lyrical expression, evokes the local culture, nature, and everyday life of Slavonia.

As a museum consultant and regional heritage expert, Toldi combines ethnographic knowledge with poetry, creating an intimate portrait of villages and rivers as symbols of continuity and nostalgia. The work is part of Toldi's broader oeuvre on the Brod and Posavina traditions, similar to his later stories such as 101 Brod Stories (2002).

Drago Glamuzina

The title poem, "The Black Rabbit," represents a kind of symbolist maneuver within "real" poetry, because like Baudelaire's "Albatross," it possesses a pronounced unambiguous charge.
