"On Literature" is a collection of essays, articles, speeches and letters by Maxim Gorky in which the author presents his views on literature, the social role of the writer and the development of Russian and world literature. The texts written in different periods of Gorky's life were combined in one book in 1949. "On Literature" is an ideologically strong, theoretical and autobiographical collection of texts in which Gorky develops his vision of literature as a moral, socially useful and nationally oriented art. The book reveals his aesthetic and political views, but also the broad humanistic side of his work.
