Zagor Extra Retro #17: Smrtonosni cvijet
Zagor and Chico search beyond the Watanka River for a scientific expedition. Their trail leads to the Tiwa-Tiwa and a flower whose scent induces murderous madness.
Smrtonosni cvijet takes Zagor and Chico into a little-explored region beyond the Watanka River, following a scientific expedition. Its object of study is an unusual plant with dangerous effects. The search brings the heroes into contact with the Tiwa-Tiwa and rituals that give the adventure an unsettling atmosphere bordering on horror.
Guido Nolitta builds suspense around the encounter between scientific curiosity and a threat that resists understanding and control. Danger comes not only from an armed adversary: it is connected with nature and the loss of command over one’s own behaviour. Familiar survival skills therefore require caution and a gradual understanding of the situation.
The search for the expedition and the deadly plant’s mystery combine a classic adventure with disturbing uncertainty. The river marks a passage from familiar territory into a region where Zagor and Chico must question their assumptions. Suspense develops through incomplete knowledge as much as direct confrontation.
Franco Donatelli illustrates the exploration, forest surroundings and action. The story begins in Extra #16, Vatra u noći, and concludes in the opening section of Extra #18, Zemlja bezakonja. Readers need Extra issues 16–18 for the complete adventure.
