Max Bunker

Max Bunker, real name Luciano Massimiliano Secchi, was born on August 24, 1939 in Milan, Italy. He is an Italian screenwriter, publisher and journalist, best known as the co-author of the cult comic strip "Alan Ford".

He began his career in 1960 by founding the publishing house Editoriale Corno together with his brother-in-law Andrea Corno. His first significant comic was "Maschera Nera" (Black Mask) from 1962. In collaboration with the cartoonist Magnus (Roberto Raviola), he created popular series such as "Kriminal" and "Satanik", which marked the Italian comic strip scene in the 1960s.

In 1969, Bunker and Magnus created "Alan Ford", a satirical comic strip that follows the adventures of incompetent secret agents from the TNT group. Although initially commercially unsuccessful in Italy, "Alan Ford" gained cult status in the former Yugoslavia, especially in Croatia, where it remained extremely popular.

After the closure of Editoriale Corno in 1984, Bunker founded his own publishing house, Max Bunker Press, through which he continued to publish "Alan Ford" and other series. In addition to comics, Bunker is the author of several novels, including a series about the detective Riccardo Finzi, which was adapted into the film "Agenzia Riccardo Finzi... practicamente detective" (1979).

Bunker's style is characterized by a combination of satire, dark humor and social criticism, which has earned him a reputation as one of the most innovative Italian comics artists. His work has left a lasting impact on European comics culture, and "Alan Ford" remains his best-known and most influential contribution to the ninth art.
