Moreno Burattini

Moreno Burattini (born 7 September 1962 in San Marcello Pistoiese, Italy) is a prominent Italian comic book writer, author, critic and playwright. After moving to Florence at an early age, he graduated from the classical high school "Cicognini" in Prato, the same one attended by the famous poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. He graduated in literature from the University of Florence with a thesis on comic book screenwriting.

In 1985, he launched the fanzine "Collezionare", which during its seven years of existence became a hotbed of young critics and comic book writers. In it, he created his first character, Battista il Collezionista. He made his professional debut in 1990 on the pages of the magazine "Mostri" published by Acme. In the following years, he collaborated with popular series such as "Cattivik" and "Lupo Alberto".

Burattini is best known for his work on the "Zagor" series for Sergio Bonelli Editore. He wrote his first story for "Zagor" in 1991, and has since become the series' most prolific author, surpassing even its creator, Sergio Bonelli (known under the pseudonym Guido Nolitta). Since 2007, he has served as the editor (curatore) of the "Zagor" series.

In addition to his work on "Zagor", Burattini has written scripts for other Bonelli series, including "Il Comandante Mark", "Dampyr" and "Tex". He is also active as an essayist, critic, exhibition organizer and playwright. His dedication and contribution to the world of comics have been recognized by numerous awards, including the Gran Guinigi, which he received at the Lucca Comics Festival in 2003.
