Who is Isadora Wing, the heroine of "Fear of Flying"? Married twice, educated at a college whose name evokes respect and associations with wealthy parents, she is not yet thirty, restless, curious, obsessed with exhausting analyses of everything around her. She has flown to Vienna for a psychoanalyst congress. While her husband attends endless sessions, she breaks off her marital ties with the wholehearted help of her sudden lover Adrian. After a two-week odyssey across the European continent in his "Triumph" (the Englishman is also married), after this tiring adventure in which complete strangers they meet at car camps occasionally get involved, Adrian and Isadora separate. The Englishman coolly returns to his wife and children.
