The texts are written by Jure Kaštelan, Cvito Fisković, Duško Kečkemet and Vladimir Vušković, with over 140 photographs, some in colour, depicting the architecture, art and life of the city. Kaštelan's introduction describes Split as a "dream in stone", highlighting its ancient heritage, especially Diocletian's Palace, in keeping with the Mediterranean spirit. Fisković focuses on artistic and architectural history, Kečkemet on social and economic development, and Vušković on contemporary Split. The photographs capture the Peristyle, the cathedral, the waterfront and everyday life.
