Današnji čovjek pred Biblijom
This booklet was written at a time of very strong and turbulent turmoil in the field of biblical research, that is, at a time of a new direction in the biblical movement.
The scientific approach to the Bible, initiated more strongly and decisively by Pope Leo XIII's call for a balanced relationship between science and faith, and by Pope St. Pius X's advocacy for biblical issues, boldly set off in an irreversible direction in 1930, after several decades of hard study and diligent work. This movement disturbed many minds with its new direction and for many years seemed like a real ghost to many who could not follow or understand it. This new direction was legitimized by the encyclical of Pius XII. "Divino ajlante Spiritu" in 1943. Even this papal document did not completely calm minds; it only silenced the public and loud outbursts against biblical innovations in many people. After the death of Pius XII and immediately before the Second Vatican Council and at its beginnings, the storm of protest against the new ideas raged with all its ferocity and met with the approval and support of many and many council fathers.
