Intervjui

Josip Broz-Tito

The interviews reflect the key moments of Tito's reign, including the conflict with Stalin in 1948, non-alignment, and domestic and global challenges. Early interviews (1944–1945) focus on World War II, the partisan struggle, and the liberation of Yugoslavia, with an emphasis on Tito's role as commander-in-chief. The post-war talks (1948–1950) deal with the split with the Informbiro and Yugoslavia's turn towards the West. Since the 1950s, Tito has been talking about non-alignment, cooperation with Nehru and Nasser, and Yugoslavia's role in global politics. Interviews from the 1960s and 1970s, including those with Dara Janeković (1972, 1973, 1976), discuss world crises (Vietnam, Middle East, China), the Helsinki Conference of 1975, and the non-aligned in Havana in 1979. Tito expresses concerns about nationalism, especially in Kosovo and Croatia, and a sense of isolation due to unreliable information. The book is a valuable historical document, albeit one imbued with propaganda, that shows Tito's charisma and the complexity of his rule.
