Povijesni dječji roman čija je radnja smještena u Engleskoj, u 16. stoljeću, u razdoblju vladavine engleskog kralja Henrika VIII. i početku kraljevanja njegova sina Edwarda VI.

Dvojica dječaka: prestolonasljednik Edward Tudor i siromašni Tom Canty sasvim slučajno zamjene odjeću i tako, zbog nevjerojatne sličnosti i svoje uloge. Mladi kraljević osuđen je na niz nesreća, lutanja i traženja načina da vrati svoju kraljevsku vlast, a Tom Canty prisiljen je u kratkom vremenu naučiti kraljevati. Radnja se sretno raspleće, a dječaci na kraju zauzimaju svoje pravo mjesto.
