Djevojka koja je spasila švedskog kralja

Djevojka koja je spasila švedskog kralja

Jonas Jonasson

A hilarious comedy of the absurd about a small man caught in the vortex of world politics. One June day in 2007, the Swedish king and prime minister disappeared from a gala dinner at the royal palace.

It is speculated that they were kidnapped... Were they? In fact, the story begins much earlier, way back in 1961, when a dark-skinned girl, Nombeko Mayeki, was born in the Johannesburg suburb of Soweto in one of the slums there. Nombeko was destined to work as a field toilet cleaner, to grow up fast and die early from alcohol, drugs, sheer despair, or a little bit of everything. So it would be if Nombeko was not what she was. And she was a child mathematical prodigy. An absurd set of circumstances will throw her into the service of an eternally drunk engineer tasked with leading South Africa's secret atomic bomb production program.
