Kratki roman Matko na štakama posvećen je djeci stradaloj u prometu.

Priču o prometnoj nesreći i dugotrajnom oporavku pripovijeda u prvom licu sedmogodišnji dječak koji je teško ozlijeđen kada ga je na ulici udario automobil. Uz dječaka Matka protagonisti su njegovi roditelji, a pojavljuje se i niz epizodnih likova, od liječnika i osoblja dječje bolnice i toplica, do djece iz Matkova razreda i, posebno, teško bolesne djece, od kojih su mnoga stradala u prometu i teže od maloga Matka. U hrvatskoj književnosti za djecu do sada nije bilo knjige s ovakvom temom, danas na žalost, vrlo aktualnom.
