Raymond Chandler

The Big Sleep is a hard-boiled crime novel by American-British writer Raymond Chandler, the first to feature detective Philip Marlowe.

Philip Marlowe receives a call for a new detective job from a wealthy and elegant home. Marlowe enters a lush garden, a seemingly elegant family, and emerges into a world of death, smoking guns, a dark world of gangsters, blackmailers, perverts and cruel murderers. His task will only seem simple, and obstacles to solving the mystery will appear from time to time. The film has been adapted twice, in 1946 and again in 1978. The action takes place in Los Angeles.
