The work is based on a true event that occurred in Spain in 1933: Aurora Rodriguez killed her daughter Hildegart, a famous fighter for women's emancipation and a cult figure on the political scene of the time.

The murder shocked the entire country as an inexplicable and unjustified act, because the young woman was the meaning of life for her mother. The young Austrian writer Erich Hackl (b. 1954) came across this mysterious affair in newspapers from the thirties. The author's fundamental preoccupation is the construction of the character of Mother Aurora, who grew up in the conservative atmosphere of the Spanish province...
