Pentalogija tragedija

Pentalogija tragedija

Mislav Gleich

The Pentalogy of Tragedies is a collection of five dark, philosophical dramas that explore human guilt, suffering, and moral limits. The characters, faced with their own evil, discover how difficult it is to preserve humanity in a world without meaning.

Pentology of Tragedies by contemporary Croatian author Mislav Gleich consists of five interconnected dramatic texts in which motifs of Greek tragedy, existential anxiety and moral dilemmas of modern man are intertwined. The work exudes a dense, philosophical tone and at the same time combines classical form and contemporary themes.

In each of the five tragedies, Gleich depicts an individual who is confronted with the limits of his own freedom, responsibility and the meaning of existence. The characters, often placed in closed, claustrophobic situations, are torn between conscience and instinct, truth and self-loathing. Their decisions have tragic consequences that question human nature itself.

The author uses a language of strong rhythm and symbolism, and black humor and irony occasionally soften the gloom of the theme. Each drama functions independently, but together they form a whole – a cycle about the fall, redemption and the cyclical nature of suffering.

Pentology of Tragedies bears the hallmarks of modern moral theater: confronting emptiness, the loss of ideals, and the search for meaning in a world full of absurdity. Gleich emphasizes that true tragedy does not occur only in the death of the hero, but in the realization of one's own powerlessness in the face of one's own actions.

The work is a powerful, thoughtful contribution to contemporary Croatian dramatic literature, intended for the reader who seeks depth and a courageous questioning of ethical boundaries.
