Modri prozori

Danko Oblak

Danko Oblak brings us a panorama of pre-war and wartime events in Zagreb projected through the sensitive psyche of a six-year-old boy who experiences a childhood disrupted first by social misery and then by the dangers of war.

The main character is only an observer of the war events, not a conscious hero, as was common in children's war novels of that time. The focus is not on a tense action plot, but on the psychological experience of a child who feels that something terrible is happening, but does not understand the essence of the events. He is amazed, confused and frightened because he observes the separation of his immediate family members and their classification into two hostile camps.
