Bolnica na kraju grada

Bolnica na kraju grada

Jaroslav Ditl

This is the so-called TV novel, written on the basis of the script for the series of the same name. The novel follows the private and business life of an employee of a hospital on the outskirts of town.

The plot focuses on the everyday life of hospital staff - doctors, nurses and management - and their professional and private problems. Relationships between colleagues, conflicts of generations, ambitions, moral dilemmas and responsibility towards patients are shown through different characters. The figure of an experienced and principled doctor (like Dr. Sova) stands out, who represents the conscience and professional standards of medicine, in contrast to younger or more ambitious colleagues who sometimes face temptations of career and personal interests. The book also shows the relationship between medicine and society, the organization of the health system and the importance of humanity and ethics in treating people. The work is written in an accessible and realistic manner, emphasizing that medicine is not only a science, but also a calling that requires responsibility, empathy and honesty.
