Povratak zeca I-II

Povratak zeca I-II

John Updike

The plot follows Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom in the late 1970s, when he finally becomes financially successful.

After years of wandering, he now lives a relatively comfortable life: he co-owns a car dealership (selling Toyotas), is financially stable and part of the upper middle class. At first glance, he has achieved the American dream. However, beneath the surface, he remains the same restless and insecure man. His marriage to Janice is working, but it is not without tension and distance. Harry continues to deal with temptations, especially in relationships with other women, seeking validation and excitement. Much of the story focuses on his relationship with his son Nelson, who is troubled, immature and unsure of his own path. Their relationship is full of disappointment and misunderstanding, which forces Harry to reconsider his own mistakes as a father. In the background, the spirit of the times is felt - the oil crisis, changes in American society and the economy - which further shapes the atmosphere of insecurity, even for those who have "made it".
