Der Hauptton der Sammlung ist nostalgisch und melancholisch, aber nicht schwerfällig – der Dichter mildert ernste Themen (Vergänglichkeit, Liebe, Einsamkeit) oft mit Ironie und spielerischer Leichtigkeit. Die Gedichte enthalten Motive des Reisens, wundersame Szenen und „verzauberte“ Situationen, die die innere Welt des Menschen symbolisieren. „Die verzauberte Kutsche“ ist eine typische Gałczyński-Sammlung, in der der Alltag zu einem poetischen Spiel der Fantasie wird und die „gewöhnliche Welt“ magische und symbolische Dimensionen annimmt.
