Srednji kršćanski nauk za III. i IV. godište pučkih škola

Eugen Kornfeind, Stjepan Kramar

Catechism textbook for grades 3–4 of elementary schools (Zagreb, 1941), with nihil obstat and imprimatur of Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac (21 May 1938; re-approved 16 April 1941). Rare wartime edition.

Secondary Christian Doctrine for the 3rd and 4th Grades of Elementary Schools, prepared by Eugen Kornfeind and Stjepan Kramar, is a classic catechism manual for the older grades of elementary schools. The material is presented in the form of questions and answers: Creed, Ten Commandments and Virtues, Sacraments with an emphasis on Confession and Communion, the liturgical year and basic Christian morality.

The book carries church approvals: nihil obstat te imprimatur signed by Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac in Zagreb on May 21, 1938, with the re-approval of the spiritual authorities in Zagreb on April 16, 1941, which confirms its official use in schools and parishes.

Historical context enhances its cultural-historical and antiquarian importance. The edition was printed immediately after the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia (April 1941) and during the initial war phase of World War II, when the school system was quickly adapting to the new authorities, and religious education had a strong confessional component. This title thus documents both pedagogical methodology (monthly schedules, notes for school use) and institutional approvals in the crucial period.

For collectors of school and church printing of the 1940s, as well as for historians of education and church institutions, the work is a representative source and a significant addition to thematic collections.
