Izvještaj za školsku godinu 1939/40. - Učiteljska škola i vježbaonica u Osijeku
Official annual report of the State Teachers' School with a Training Room (Primary School) in Osijek, published in 1940. Overview of teaching work, students, staff and activities on the eve of World War II.
"Report for the school year 1939/40" is an official publication of the State Teachers' School with a Training Center in Osijek, printed in 1940. Such reports were standard documents of all secondary vocational schools in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia — they contained a detailed overview of the institution's work during the school year. The report includes:
- student statistics (enrollment, success, dropouts, gender and age structure)
- teaching staff and principal
- overview of the implementation of the curriculum (especially pedagogical and didactic practice in the training center)
- reports on discipline, student health, extracurricular activities
- financial and material position of the school
The Teachers' School in Osijek was founded in 1893 and was a key institution for the education of teachers in Slavonia. The training center (the elementary school at the teachers' school) served for the practical teaching of future teachers. The school year 1939/40 was the last peacetime year before the outbreak of war — marked by the introduction of the new 1939 curricula, heightened patriotism, and pre-war tensions.
Today, this report is a rare publication, an important source for researchers of the history of education, teacher education, and social conditions in Osijek and Slavonia on the eve of World War II. It is kept in national and regional archives and libraries (e.g. the State Archives of Osijek, the National Library of Croatia in Zagreb).
