The collection "When I Hear Daruvar", edited by Kruno Lokotar, brings together 28 stories, essays and travelogues by renowned authors on the topic of Daruvar - a unique literary portrait of the city.

The collection When I Hear Daruvar, conceived and edited by Kruno Lokotar, is a unique project in which 28 prominent Croatian and regional writers, journalists and publicists – most of whom are not from Daruvar, and some have never even been to the city – wrote a text on the topic "When I Hear Daruvar".

The texts include stories, travelogues, memories, micro-essays, poetry and dialogues. They range from the ancient Aqua Balissae, through the Baroque Janković era, Czech colonization, spas and breweries, all the way to modern life, multiculturalism and personal associations.

Kruno Lokotar (Daruvar, 1967), a graduate in comparative studies, historian and librarian, long-time editor (AGM and others), known for his high standards and awards (Kiklop), managed to create a warm, playful and high-quality book that promotes the Daruvar identity in an unexpected way. The project was created during the pandemic, and the collection quickly became a hit – among the best-selling domestic titles, with successful promotions in Daruvar (in front of the Janković Castle) and throughout Croatia.

The book is not a classic monograph, but a vibrant literary game that makes Daruvar a unique city in a literary sense. Ideal for lovers of good literature, those who love Slavonia, spas or simply enjoy diverse styles and perspectives. The collection shows how a city's identity can be built through views "from the outside", while at the same time awakening the pride of the local population.

Lokotar's love for his hometown and superb editorial skill make this book special and emotional, and at the same time entertaining and informative.
