Kapetanova kći i druga djela

Kapetanova kći i druga djela

Aleksandar S. Puškin

The collection brings together Pushkin's lyrics and prose, from intimate poems to short stories and the novel The Captain's Daughter, showcasing the breadth of his talent, stylistic elegance, and enduring literary power.

The Captain's Daughter and Other Works is a collection of selected texts by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin that provides the reader with a concise but representative insight into the oeuvre of one of the most important Russian writers. The book includes an introductory study of Pushkin's work, a selection of poetry, and a series of prose works: The Shot, The Blizzard, The Postmaster, The Queen of Spades, and The Captain's Daughter. This brings together in one place the different facets of Pushkin's writing - lyrical, narrative, psychological, and historical.

The poetic section brings together well-known lyrical texts such as Arion, The Bronze Horseman, and excerpts from Eugene Onegin, which reveal Pushkin's sensitivity, musicality of verse, and ability to express personal, love, and social themes clearly and powerfully. The prose section shows the other side of his talent: short, impressive stories full of atmosphere, fate, irony, and uncertainty.

A special place is occupied by The Captain's Daughter, a historical novel set during the peasant revolt led by Pugachev. Through the story of the young nobleman Pyotr Grinev, his maturation, his love for Masha Mironova and his confrontation with war, honor and rebellion, Pushkin creates a work in which personal drama and great history are intertwined.

This collection is valuable because it shows Pushkin in its entirety: as a poet of strong emotion, a skilled storyteller and an author who strongly influenced the development of Russian and European literature.
