Francoise Sagan

Surrender is a classic Sagan story about love that ignites but cannot survive reality - about a woman who must choose between what makes her alive and what makes her peaceful.

The story is set in Paris in the 1960s. The main character is Lucile, a beautiful and carefree woman in her thirties. For two years, she has been living as the mistress of a rich and gentle older man, Charles. He loves her deeply and does not impose anything on her - her life is easygoing, filled with parties, travel and freedom. At one dinner party, Lucile meets Antoine, a young, poor editor who is alone in a relationship with a rich older woman, Diane. A passionate love develops between Lucile and Antoine. They both leave their partners and try to live together. However, life with Antoine brings a completely different rhythm: work, daily obligations, lack of money and expectations (including the desire for children). Lucile feels pressured and suffocated. She soon faces a difficult choice between passion and comfort, between intense love and a life that does not ask her to change.
