Croatica: Hrvatski udio u svjetskoj baštini 1-2

The monograph “Croatica: Croatian Share in World Heritage 1-2”, edited by historian Neven Budak, represents one of the most comprehensive publications dedicated to the valorization of Croatian identity in a global context. Through two richly furnished volumes, this major work brings together texts by leading Croatian experts, historians, art historians and scientists with the aim of presenting in a unique way all that Croatia has given to world civilization.

The first volume covers the period from prehistory and antiquity, through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and all the way to the end of the 18th century. It covers in detail monuments under UNESCO protection, monumental and artistic heritage, the Glagolitic tradition, and the contributions of great minds such as Ruđer Bošković, Marko Marulić or Juraj Dalmatinac.

The second volume focuses on the 19th and 20th centuries, analyzing the role of Croatia in modern scientific, artistic and social movements. The work systematically presents not only material monuments and natural beauties, but also intangible heritage, inventions, literature and architecture. This monograph convincingly shows that Croatia has never been just a passive periphery, but an equal participant and builder of European and world heritage.
