Heljareyga

Heljareyga

The self-titled 2010 debut album "Heljareyga" is a project by Heri Joensen, frontman of the band Týr. The release brings a powerful blend of progressive folk and folk metal with memorable farcical vocal parts.

Released in 2010 by Tutl, Heljareyga's self-titled album is an exceptional original work by Heri Joensen, the famous founder and singer of the renowned metal band Týr. This side project was born from Joensen's desire to explore more complex, progressive and fast-paced musical structures within the folk metal genre, while remaining deeply rooted in the Faroese language and tradition.

The album contains five extensive, technically extremely well-developed songs that combine fierce guitar chorus lines, fast rhythms and recognizable multi-part vocal arrangements. The lyrical thematic framework draws inspiration from Nordic folklore and mythology, providing an authentic atmosphere of the Faroe Islands. The musical line-up, along with Joensen, consists of skilled musicians Ísak Petersen (bass guitar), Ken Nónklett (guitar) and Amund Haugen (drums), who together create a dynamic and layered sound.

This CD release is indispensable for collectors and fans of progressive, pagan and folk metal, as well as for all fans of the band Týr who want to experience a unique and fiercer dimension of Nordic metal creativity.
