Boa

The debut studio album by Zagreb band Boa, simply called Boa, was released in early 1982 on the Suzy record label. The album was recorded in late 1981 in Sweden, which gave the band a production breadth, sonic purity, and high standard that stood out from the domestic studio conditions of the time, bringing them closer to contemporary European art-rock and synth-pop trends (such as Japan or Roxy Music).

Led by singer Mladen Puljiz and guitarist/songwriter Slavko Remenarić, Boa offered an exceptionally stylized, elegant, and atmospheric sound on this release that relied on layered synthesizer arrangements, precise guitar parts, and more hermetic, thoughtful lyrics. The album features nine songs, including memorable hits and audience favorites such as "Milion", "Stol", "Davni trag", "Noćne sjene", "Melodrama", "Živjeti od mraka", "Sela gore" and "Pored zida".

Thanks to its uncompromising dedication to aesthetics, specific vocal expression and modern Scandinavian production, this album immediately attracted the attention of critics and audiences upon its release. Boa has been recorded as one of the most original, sophisticated and visually and musically mature achievements of the Yugoslav new wave and art-rock scene.
