Gulf Winds

Gulf Winds

Joan Baez

Gulf Winds is the eighth studio album by the famous American singer-songwriter and activist Joan Baez, released in 1976 by A&M Records. Unlike her many previous releases on which she interpreted other people's compositions, this album consists entirely of her own original works. Through poetic lyrics and stripped-down acoustic arrangements, Baez delivers a deeply introspective, mature and emotional collection of songs that intertwine themes of personal growth, love, transience and social change.

A valuable Yugoslav licensed edition, released in 1977 by PGP RTB, allowed the domestic audience to encounter this unique musical breakthrough. Recorded with the participation of top studio musicians such as bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn and drummer Jim Gordon, the album combines elements of folk-rock, pop and gentle orchestration. The tracklist features a number of notable tracks, from heart-wrenching compositions like "Sweeter For Me" and "Seabirds" to the expansive, epic title track "Gulf Winds" that rounds out the album.

With its exceptional singer-songwriter expression and distinctive, crystal-clear vocals, this release is a valuable collector's item on vinyl. The record offers an authentic insight into the intimate world of one of the most important musical icons of the 20th century and is a must-see for all true fans of classic folk and top-notch analog production.
