Dani Hvarskog kazališta: Hrvatski humanizam, XVI. stoljeće - protestantizam i reformacija

The collection *Dani Hvarskog kazališta: Hrvatski humanizam* (1992) presents scholarly papers on the literary, theatrical, and cultural heritage of Croatian humanists, as well as their influence within the European context.

The collection of papers Dani Hvarskog kazališta: Hrvatski humanizam (Days of the Hvar Theatre: Croatian Humanism), published in 1992 by the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) and the Literary Circle of Split, represents a key contribution to the study of Croatia’s Renaissance and humanistic cultural heritage. The volume brings together scholarly papers presented at the traditional symposium in Hvar, dedicated to the analysis of Croatian Humanism—a period during which local authors achieved remarkable feats in both the Latin and Croatian languages. In their contributions, the authors explore the literary, theatrical, philosophical, and historical dimensions of the work of Croatian humanists such as Marko Marulić, Šiško Menčetić, Džore Držić, and their contemporaries. Particular emphasis is placed on the interplay between local tradition and European humanistic currents, the role of Dalmatian communes as hubs of literacy and the arts, and the development of early Croatian theatre and drama. The collection provides a detailed analysis of textual sources, poetic forms, dramatic structures, and the social context of the 15th and 16th centuries. As an essential resource for literary and theatre historians, this volume sheds light on the profound connection between Croatian culture and the broader European intellectual sphere.
