Zagor LU #260: Sudnji dan
An earthquake and tsunami devastate Concepción. As Zagor and Chico help survivors, Frate Tomas’s fanatics threaten Charles Darwin and turn disaster into violent conflict.
Sudnji dan brings Zagor’s South American journey to a dramatic turning point: natural disaster meets human fanaticism, making the rescue of survivors dangerous even after the ground stops shaking.
An earthquake and a massive wave devastate the Chilean city of Concepción. Zagor and Chico help the victims, while the followers of Frate Tomas spread violence. Charles Darwin’s arrival sharpens the contrast between investigating nature and exploiting its destructive force to intimidate others.
Burattini builds the story around the opposition between solidarity and the manipulation of fear. When a community most needs practical help and clear judgement, catastrophe gives opportunists the chance to impose their explanations and identify enemies. Zagor must protect people from violence arising amid the ruins as well as from the aftermath of the disaster itself.
Gianni Sedioli’s pencils and Marco Verni’s inks convey the scale of destruction, confusion and physical demands of rescue. Historical atmosphere is combined with urgent action.
The issue continues the storyline from Proročanstvo. Its conclusion appears in the opening section of the following issue, Pod južnim nebom.
