Zagor LU #307: Saddle Town
Zagor and Chico trace parasitic monsters to the mining settlement of Saddle Town. The sole survivor’s returning memories may reveal how to destroy the creatures.
Saddle Town concludes the horror adventure begun in Pipci. Zagor and Chico seek the source of a threat far beyond an ordinary animal attack: parasitic creatures can devour people or take possession of their bodies.
Clues lead to the mining settlement of Saddle Town. The memories of the massacre’s sole survivor become crucial, potentially providing the knowledge needed to destroy the monsters.
Burattini combines an investigation into disaster with body horror. Danger lies not only in encountering an unknown creature but also in uncertainty about what may be concealed behind a human appearance. Gathering information becomes as important as fighting: without understanding the enemy, resistance risks creating further victims.
Marco Verni’s artwork emphasises the creatures’ threatening anatomy, the characters’ reactions and the violence of confrontation. The mining setting provides a claustrophobic backdrop, while the gradual recovery of memories sustains the mystery.
This issue completes the two-part storyline spanning Ludens #306–307, bringing Zagor’s adventure world into contact with themes of infestation, lost identity and resistance to an inhuman threat.
