Jahači španskih planina

Jahači španskih planina

Zane Grey

In this novel, Grey paints a magnificent picture of the winter wilderness of Colorado and proves that true nobility does not depend on origin. Tense, romantic and full of beautiful descriptions of mountain peaks.

After the Great Depression of 1929, the Laramie family – father John, mother and three grown daughters – lose everything in Kansas and head West in search of a new start. On the desolate slopes of the Spanish Mountains in Colorado, they come across the vast, abandoned Spanish Peaks Ranch, once owned by the infamous outlaw Thiry Prest.

Soon, Prest himself appears with his gang – charming, dangerous and invincible. Instead of chasing them away, he challenges them: if they survive the winter in these harsh mountains, the ranch is theirs. An unusual coexistence begins between the smooth Eastern family and the rough outlaw cowboys.

The eldest daughter, Virginia, falls in love with Prest’s right-hand man, the mysterious Lonesome Mulvey, who hides a dark past. As the snow closes the passes, there are clashes with new owners who want the land, betrayals, shootings and a final showdown in a snowstorm.
