Corpse in the Library (1942) is a classic crime novel starring Miss Marple. The story begins in the quiet village of St. Mary Mead, where the Bantry family is shocked: the body of a young woman, an unknown dancer named Ruby Keene, is found in their library. The body, found in an extravagant dress, causes a scandal and attracts the attention of the police and Miss Marple.

Miss Marple, a shrewd old woman, becomes involved in the investigation to uncover the murderer. Ruby worked at the nearby Majestic Hotel, where she was loved by wealthy guest Conway Jefferson and his family. Jefferson, grieving the loss of Ruby, to whom he intended to leave an inheritance, instigates an investigation. Miss Marple investigates the relationships between the hotel guests, including Jefferson's daughter-in-law Adelaide, his son-in-law Mark, and the dancer Raymond. Suspicion falls on several characters, and the motive seems to be linked to jealousy, greed, and hidden secrets.

Through conversations and observation, Miss Marple discovers that the murder is connected to other crimes, including the disappearance of a girl. Christie skillfully weaves false clues, while Miss Marple uses her intuition and knowledge of human nature to unravel the intricate plot. The novel culminates in the unexpected discovery of a murderer whose motive lies in manipulation and maintaining social status.

The work explores themes of social class, hypocrisy, and justice, with characteristic Agatha Christie flair. Miss Marple excels with her unobtrusive insight, making the novel tense and intelligent.
