Brijeg tutnji

Brijeg tutnji

Zane Grey

In this novel, Gray combines the white-hot psychosis of the gold rush with magnificent descriptions of the wild mountains of Idaho – one of his most thrilling and tragic novels.

In 1878, three Kalispell brothers – Emerson, Sam and Lee – hear rumors of gold in the wild mountains of northern Idaho. In the Salmon River Valley, they discover a fantastic deposit on top of a mountain they call Thunder Mountain. Gold is everywhere, even on the surface.

The brothers set up camp and begin digging, but soon new hordes of gold seekers arrive. A chaotic mining town is formed, full of casinos, saloons and gunslingers. At the center is the beautiful Leona Craig, the daughter of one of the pioneers, who becomes the “Queen of Thunder Mountain”. Young engineer Cliff Borden, as well as the dangerous outlaw Rand Leavitt, fall in love with her.

As the mountain literally rumbles with explosions and landslides, a conflict arises over the richest veins. A great danger looms in the background: the entire mountain is of volcanic origin and threatens to collapse catastrophically. In the epic finale, amidst a storm and landslides, love, greed and justice are put to the test.
