Fiesta

Fiesta

Ernest Hemingway

Fiesta is the first novel by Ernest Hemingway, originally titled The Sun Also Rises. Fiesta is the work in which Hemingway first captures the so-called "lost generation" after World War I.

This is a generation of people who participated in the war and survived it. However, they did not draw any lessons or conclusions from it except that war is meaningless. None of them thought of leading a fight against war on the basis of their difficult war experiences so that there would be no more of it. Having satisfied themselves with the bare statement that war is meaningless, all these young people, demoralized and – and this should be emphasized – well-off, gave themselves up to a frivolous and superficial life, to empty experiences, without deeper feelings, without thoughts, without will, in a word: people without any perspective.
