Sudar

Sudar

James Graham Ballard

An extremely interesting and provocative novel in which the consequences that technological progress leaves on man are described.

The novel alternates between cold-metal eroticism and brutal mutual destruction in traffic accidents. The main character, namely, concludes that someone is haunting him after a traffic accident. He is followed by a mysterious scientist who is attracted to unusual, gruesome accidents in which he finds sexual allure. In other words, from the horrific injuries and deformations of the victims of car accidents, a new sexuality is born that springs from technologically oriented perversity. The novel is written with almost clinical detachment. It describes a world from which the last remnants of humanity have disappeared not so long ago, and only a tangle of nightmares, reason, and a mechanized individual remain.
