Prosjak iz Granade - Sveti Ivan od Boga
The novel is written in Hünermann's signature style – simple, warm and emotional – with the aim of bringing the saints closer to ordinary readers through stories that highlight their faith, struggles and service to their fellow man.
In his youth, John wandered around Europe, filled with restlessness and without a true goal. After a turbulent youth, including military service and disappointments, he experienced a profound conversion after a powerful sermon by Saint John of Avila. This moment changed the course of his life: John decided to dedicate his life completely to God and the sick, leaving the world to serve the poor and the outcasts of Granada.
The book depicts his selfless work among the sick, his suffering, humility and constant trust in God's providence, despite ridicule and persecution. His relationship with those who humiliated him is particularly impressive - because he forgave them all and responded with love.
