Escape in a Basket is a moving children's novel, the author of which sets the plot in the Dalmatian hinterland, in a village near Knin, at the very beginning of the Homeland War.

Escape in a Basket is a children's novel set during the Homeland War, written from the perspective of children who experience war directly, but do not fully understand it. The main characters are Antea and her brother Goran, who have to leave their home due to the events of the war. Their story depicts the fear, insecurity and separation that war brings, but also children's courage, warmth and ingenuity. At the center is an unusual and dramatic episode in which the children, fleeing from danger, hide in a large basket, which becomes a symbol of their survival and hope.
