Legenda o Ali-paši

Legenda o Ali-paši

Enver Čolaković

The novel is set in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Ottoman rule. It tells the story of the life of Ali Pasha, his love for the girl Almasa, and his fight against injustice.

This book is about the porter Alija, his path to wealth and also about his great love. Alija is a young porter with a kind heart who helps everyone, he was nicknamed Alija Lepir because of his good character and love for the Sun. He is always cheerful and joyful and a person who is always happy to be seen and very well known. Alija is in love with Almasa, the daughter of Mehage Bakal, but he never dared to show her his love, so she marries another man, Ismet-effendi. However, Almasa was not happy in that marriage primarily because of Ismet's serious illness, which he did not tell her about before the marriage. During that period, Alija was approached for help by the grumpy and stingy Mula-Hasan grandfather, who once showed him his hidden treasure. At one time, Alija was in Travnik, where he was sent by Ali-hodja, a man who loved him as his own son. There he suffered for his Almasa, but quickly returned home and found the long-sought happiness. After the death of his grandfather, Alija buys his grandfather's house where he finds wealth. He marries Almas, who had previously divorced Ismet-effendi, who left Sarajevo and became Ali-pasha. He won his beloved and became rich, but his soul remained the same. He loved to help others, especially after he had made a lot of money. This is a warm human story about a man who found the long-sought happiness and got everything he wanted, thanks to his kindness.
