The monograph Sado: Social Reality in the Aesthetics of Painting is the result of a scientific conference dedicated to the figure and work of Prof. Sadudin Musabegović (1939–2014), one of the most important theorists of aesthetics, film and fine arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former Yugoslavia. It was published by the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo “Prof. Dr. Zdravko Grebo”, and represents a collective homage to his work, but also an incentive for further discussion on the relationship between art and society.

The collection brings together texts by prominent professors, writers and theorists – among them Mile Stojić, Predrag Finci, Dževad Karahasan, Amra Bakšić-Čamo, Ugo Vlaisavljević, Senadin Musabegović and others – who reflect on Musabegović’s oeuvre and its influence on the aesthetic and cultural thought of the region from different theoretical perspectives. At the center of the book is the idea of "images of society" - how visual art and aesthetic theory reflect social relations, political circumstances and the concept of identity.

According to Prof. Aida A. Hozić, the book encourages serious thinking about "the relationship between art and statehood, aesthetics and politics in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina". It testifies to the rich intellectual legacy of Musabegović - professor, editor and director, and affirms his thought as a permanently relevant contribution to the understanding of the social reality of images and cultural self-reflection of our time.
