Mladić s trubom

Mladić s trubom

Dorothy Backer

The novel is known for its jazz-scene atmosphere and psychologically profound portrayal of an artist who lives for music.

The novel "The Young Man with the Trumpet" follows the life of talented jazz musician Rick Martin, a young man who grows up in poverty, but shows exceptional musical talent. He finds inspiration and role model in the older jazz trumpeter Art Hazzard, who introduces him to the world of jazz and helps him develop his own style of playing. Rick is completely devoted to music and constantly strives for perfection, but due to his sensitivity and inner turmoil, he has difficulty finding a balance between art and private life. His passion for jazz often distances him from other people. The novel depicts the rise and fall of the artist, his internal conflicts, loneliness and search for identity. The main theme is the conflict between artistic talent and personal happiness.
