Morrison Hotel

Morrison Hotel

The Doors

The Doors - Morrison Hotel, published by Jugoton in 1979, is a licensed Yugoslav edition of one of the group's most popular albums. It brings a return to a more raw blues-rock sound and a series of anthology songs.

Morrison Hotel is the fifth studio album by the American rock group The Doors, originally released in 1970, while the Yugoslav licensed edition was released by Jugoton in 1979. After the more experimental album The Soft Parade, with this release the band returns to a more energetic and raw sound, relying on blues, rock and rhythm and blues, making it one of the most praised achievements in their discography.

The album opens with the legendary Roadhouse Blues, one of the most famous songs of the group, and among other prominent compositions there are Waiting for the Sun, Peace Frog, Blue Sunday, Ship of Fools, Land Ho!, The Spy, Queen of the Highway, Indian Summer and the final Maggie M'Gill. These songs show the exceptional playing confidence of the band members and the recognizable interpretation of Jim Morrison, whose vocals and lyrics marked the history of rock music.

Jugoton's release from 1979 enabled local rock fans to get one of the group's key albums in a quality licensed print. At a time of limited availability of original foreign releases, these LPs played an important role in the spread of world rock culture on the Yugoslav market.

Today, Morrison Hotel, published by Jugoton, is a sought-after collector's item among fans of vinyl and Yugoslavian discography. In addition to its superior musical value, it represents an important part of the legacy of the group The Doors and one of their most mature studio achievements.
