Etika i život
This book is intended primarily for medical students, but not only for them, but also for all doctors and medical staff in general.
However, since it is actually just a general introduction to ethics, it will also be very useful to students of all other faculties, as well as Croatian intellectuals in general. Ethics is part of the classical cultural heritage of humanity. Culture simply cannot be imagined without its ethical foundations. Likewise, neither can social life in all its forms. Nor can life at all, because it would not exist without the principles of bioethics. In my opinion, ethics can be divided into three main parts. The first would be general or fundamental ethics, common to all people, all classes, and all times. The second would encompass bioethics, of course from an anthropological perspective. The third part would deal with purely medical ethics and dentistry. I have here adopted the first part, i.e. general ethics, but of course, with special regard to medical deontology. Although I deeply respect Christian morality, which is the foundation of European culture and ethos, it is not my intention to be its preacher. I assume that the readers of this book will belong to different worldviews, so I hope that all of them, without distinction, will find in it a rational explanation for their ethical behavior.
